Celery Seed

Celery has been used for elements such as rheumatic an arthritic problems, blood pressure regulation, UTIs,  etc. It is a great cleansing and diuretic herb specifically for arthritic complaints where there may be an accumulation of waste problems it has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects. Celery is packed with nutrients such as vitamin K, B vitamins, potassium, vitamin C, etc. It is also rich in powerful antioxidants and polyphenols. Celery contains a flavonoid known as apigenin which has been found to help reduce inflammation and it can bind to some of the same receptors that illicit inflammation. It also has another compound known as polyacetylene which has been found to help with gout symptoms. Celery works to increase circulation which helps nutrients get to where they need to be in the body.

Burdock Root

Is one of the most potent blood purifying and lymph stimulating herbs available. It has anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, antioxidant, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, and liver protecting properties. It has been used for centuries for ulcers, colds, joint issues, sciatica, gout, etc. Burdock works as a diuretic but it also helps to clean up waste in the body thereby reducing swelling around the joints it has also been shown to help with liver regeneration, which is important because a healthy liver is important for healthy joints. Burdock root has sterols and tannins which contribute to the anti-inflammatory nature of the root. Arctigenin a phytoestrogen happens to be the powerful constituent in this root that has not only been found to help with rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, but it has been found to help slow the progression of RA, inhibit various inflammatory proteins such as TNF-a, and it works through various inflammatory signaling pathways which is why it is seen as a great arthritis therapeutic.

Chaparral

Chaparral has been used medicinally to help with joint pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, cramps, bowel, and urinary issues.  One of the constituents in chaparral is known as NDGA (nordihydrogauiaretic acid), which is an antioxidant that has anti-cancer and antioxidant properties. Chaparral like burdock root has blood cleansing properties and lymph promoting properties. The long-lasting anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects is why it has been used for the treatment of arthritis.

Licorice Root is used for ailments of the gastrointestinal and respiratory realm but it has been shown to have some effect for certain cancer cell lines, fatigue, in other viral infections. One study found that licorice root was just as effective as Advil against information that causes arthritis because it works on some of the same receptors such as COX2. It has been known to found to downregulate some of the key proteins that play a role in the inflammatory processes in rheumatoid arthritis, add and scavenge some of the free radicals involved in the formation of the disease. The compound known as glycyrrhizin in licorice root can kind of act as a corticosteroid and help offset some of the pain that occurs with arthritis. One study found that the Glycyrrhizin can inhibit osteoarthritis development by suppressing the PI3K/AKT/NF-κB signaling pathway this trial was done in humans and in vitro.

Root

Queen-of-the-Meadow root has compounds such as tannins, rugosins, flavonoids, and salicylates, and other compounds that have anti-inflammatory properties. Traditionally it has been used to treat joint pain, gout, stomach ulcers, arthritis in other ailments. One clinical trial found that it helps to reduce inflammatory blood markers by inhibiting certain proteins and enzymes in the processes of inflammation. It has also been found in vivo to block the enzyme known as xanthine oxidase which is the primary enzyme involved in the production of uric acid which builds up an gout which causes the crystals that deposit in the big toe and causes the pain.

Cayenne

Cayenne stands out with its blood circulation promoting properties however it is also anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant it helps relieve pain that is due to inflammation in traditionally cayenne has been used for muscle spasms in stagnant blood. The capsaicin in cayenne pepper works as a counter irritant that depletes the chemical messengers for pain in the joint which helps to ease the pain in arthritis and diabetic neuropathy.
